STELLA'S TOMB RAIDER 2 REMASTERED WALKTHROUGH

LOOKING FOR DARK MODE?

The TR2 Remastered guide is now complete. For the guides that have not yet been updated, I will continue to link to the ORIGINAL WALKTHROUGHS, which cover all the basics. Please check the introductory notes at the start of the first level for info on my process, modern vs. classic tank controls, etc. This guide covers most but not all possible achievements/trophies. Follow this link for the archived classic guide.

Offshore Rig Video Walkthrough by Eldincy

OBJECTIVES: Escape from captivity and find a way back onto the seaplane to reclaim your pistols. Once you're armed again, confront the bad guys and work your way through the rig to the Diving Area. On the way you'll need to obtain several color-coded key cards. The first two are used shortly after they're found, so should not cause much confusion. The third card, a green one, is located some distance away from its lock. Using the green card enables you to reach the level exit.

Cinematics: The seaplane with Lara aboard lands near an oil rig in the middle of the ocean. Later, Lara awakens in a makeshift cell.

LOCKUP: You begin this level imprisoned in a room full of crates. Check your inventory. Though the bad guys have kindly left Lara her health packs, flares, and ammo, they've confiscated all her weapons. You'll have to get them back.

The room where you begin has a wall of windows and a locked door. Apparently Bartoli isn't quite as "enlightened" as he thinks, since the switch that opens the exit from Lara's prison is hidden behind the movable crates in the back left corner of this same room. Rearrange the crates to locate the switch and clear a path to the exit beforehand. Then go into the passageway, pull the switch, press Look to cancel the cutscene showing the door opening, roll, and run to the door before the 15-second timer runs out and the door closes. (If you need help positioning the crates, check this page with screenshots.)

SEAPLANE AND PISTOLS: As soon as Lara exits the room, an alarm sounds, alerting 2 rig workers (1-2, below). You can avoid these enemies for now, or make a daring run past them to unlock an achievement/trophy. If you'd rather avoid confrontation, follow the archived classic guide from the B.A.T. (Before Achievements and Trophies) Era.

To unlock the "Don't Even Need to Wet My Feet" achievement/trophy, you must avoid going into the water before retrieving your guns from inside the parked SEAPLANE. To do that, after exiting the LOCKUP, turn left and run forward into the next room. Either avoid the ramp ahead on the right, or run up it a few steps to trip a rolling barrel trap, then run off the edge and continue forward. Run/jump past the 2 rig workers (1-2, below) toward the far end of the room. Turn right and run/jump up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, turn right and run up against the rightmost window, near the CCTV monitor. Make sure Lara is touching the window then roll, and she should end up on the other side of it. Roll again (or turn around) and run off the edge. (screenshots)

Or, if gamer's guilt prevents you from taking advantage of this useful glitch, instead, wait near the window for the enemies to approach. When the gunman shoots at Lara, it should shatter the window, so you can run through legally, if painfully. Continue running off the edge. (screenshots)

The enemies won't pursue Lara too far, but the gunman will continue firing, so don't linger. Move to the far left corner of the ledge at water level. Quickly and carefully take a running jump to grab the seaplane's wing, just to the left of the whirring propeller. (Lara may take a little damage, but as long as you grab far enough to the left, she'll survive.) Pull up and run across the top of the plane onto the black tile. Fall through this trapdoor and reclaim your PISTOLS (1), unlocking the "Don't Even Need to Wet My Feet" achievement/trophy in the process. (screenshots)

POOL WITH BIG FAN: Climb the ladder to get back on top of the plane. Next, you're headed for the lever just to the left of the huge underwater fan in one corner. If Lara passes between the barrels on the bottom of the pool and the fan, whether she's swimming underwater or on the surface, she'll get sucked into the blades. So approach the lever from the left. Pull it to open the small, square grate to the right of the fan. To reach it, swim away from the fan and around the barrels, either along the bottom or on the surface. Then hug the wall as you approach the grate. Yes, that's the Jade Dragon behind the fan, but don't try to reach it yet. (screenshots)

Follow the flooded passage to the end. There are several twists and turns but no side passages, so you can't get lost. Near the end, the tunnel slopes upward into a tall, narrow room where you can surface and breathe. (screenshots)

On the wall below the tunnel where you just swam in is a second lever. Pull it to open a trapdoor near the fan. There's no timer, so take a moment to refill your air meter. Then swim back through the tunnel to the trapdoor you just opened. Swim down through this opening then to the right. Continue forward then upward to find SECRET #1, the Jade Dragon (2), sitting behind the huge fan. Grab it, roll, and swim back through the tunnel the way you came. (screenshots)

NOTE: If Lara's air is running out, instead of swimming all the way back to the top of the tunnel, you can follow the passage to the right and surface in the big pool to breathe. Just be sure to turn left as you emerge from the tunnel and stay close to the wall so Lara doesn't get drawn into the fan. Then return through the long underwater passageway to the small room with the lever.

YELLOW CARD AND LOCK: Back in the tall room with the second lever, climb out of the water into the doorway. Notice the other doorway high above. You'll be able to reach it later from the other side. For now, follow the passageway to a ledge overlooking the pool and SEAPLANE. Head to the right and jump across the gap in the walkway.Shoot out a window and go back inside. Now that you're armed, you can deal with the 2 rig workers (1-2) you avoided earlier. One drops a large medi pack (3), the other a YELLOW PASS CARD (4). (screenshots)

Use the card in the YELLOW LOCK to open one of the doors opposite the windows. Enter the next room and press the button to turn off the alarm. Finally! (screenshots)

NOTE: There's a button on the wall outside the windows that opens a hatch on the underside of the seaplane. (screenshots) If you took the shortcut for the "Don't Even Need to Wet My Feet" achievement/trophy, you won't need to press this button or swim underneath the plane. There are no other pickups there. Again, the longer route is described in the classic walkthrough.

LOUNGE AND BUNKS: Follow the passage to the right of the button up a flight of stairs. Turn the wheel to open the door. Run into the next room and roll to confront a rig worker with a club (3) who sneaks up behind you. Take his small medi pack (5) and continue into the next room. When you enter, another bat-wielding baddie (4) comes through the door at the top of the ramp. He drops a large medi pack (6) when you kill him. (screenshots)

The door at the top of the ramp closes when you approach it, so instead open the door with the wheel, enter the workers' LOUNGE, and shoot another enemy (5) inside on the right. Take his large medi pack (7) and retrieve 2 bundles of harpoons and 2 pairs of automatic pistol clips (8-11) from the low benches. No matter how hard you try, you can't pick up the playing cards or coffee...drat! (screenshots)

Proceed through the other doorway into the BUNKROOM. The guys have kindly left some treats on their beds: AUTOMATIC PISTOLS and ammunition (12-13), plus a HARPOON GUN and harpoons (14-15). (screenshots)

The button in the first top bunk on the left (right if you're facing the entrance) opens a trapdoor in the ceiling between the last two bunks. It's timed to close after about 25 seconds. No problem. Climb onto the bunk, push the button, then tap Look to regain Lara's perspective. Roll, run off the edge, and run/jump along the aisle to the far end of the last bunk on the right. Jump straight up to grab the edge of the top bunk. Pull up, turn around, jump forward, and grab the trapdoor opening. Then pull up before the door closes. (screenshots)

BURNER ROOM: Follow the passage around the corner and walk to the edge of a long chute. Slide down facing uphill and grab the edge. Climb down the ladder. (Quickly press and release Action to descend ladders faster.) At the bottom is a room with lit burners and 2 movable boxes set into the wall. If you want the "In a Rush" achievement/trophy, you must reach the top of the second ladder, above the burners, without moving either box. Position Lara squarely facing the seam between the burners, about 3 walking steps back from the low platform with the burners. Turn very slightly to aim for the left edge of the ladder. Save the game. Then take a running jump between the burners and grab the ladder. Lara will take a little heat damage, but if you set it up carefully, she won't catch fire. Climb up a bit, then right, then continue climbing. When you reach the top, the achievement/trophy should pop, as long as you didn't touch the movable boxes. (screenshots)

If you don't care about achievements, or if you want to reload and not lose health, instead pull out the box on the right and push it over to the other side of the room. Now pull the left box out of the alcove. Pull it once toward the middle of the room. Go behind it and push it next to the low platform with the burners. Climb onto the box and take a running jump to grab the ladder above the flames. Then continue to the top. (screenshots)

RED PASS CARD AND SILVER DRAGON: Follow the dark hallway. Kill another rig worker with a baton (6) and steal his RED PASS CARD (16). Before continuing up the stairs, climb the ladder on the left to reach the top of the oil rig tower, where you'll find SECRET #2, the Silver Dragon (17). (screenshots)

NOTE: It's possible to get outside the fence into the area surrounding the tower using a modified version of the fence bug. Details are in the archived classic guide

Climb back down the ladder and follow the dark hallway up the stairs. You'll end up in the doorway high above the tall room with the second lever, where you were earlier. Drop into the water and climb out in the doorway again. (screenshots)

NOTE: If you missed the Jade Dragon secret earlier, you can go after it now. See above.

Follow the hall back to the walkway overlooking the pool and SEAPLANE. Continue along the walkway, jump across the small gap, and return through the broken window to the room where you used the YELLOW PASS CARD. Go through the metal door into the corridor with the button you pressed earlier to turn off the alarm. (screenshots)

RED LOCK: This time, go up the stairs on the left and follow the passageway to a room with big, metal pipes on the walls. Avoid the ramp ahead on the left as you fight another armed rig worker (7) and his unfriendly puppy (8). Steal the guy's Uzi clips (18). Then cautiously approach the ramp. Run past the base of the ramp from left to right to trip a rolling barrel trap. Wait in the corner to the right of the ramp as the barrels roll by. Then continue to the top and use the RED PASS CARD in the RED LOCK to open the door. (screenshots)

ROOM WITH RAMP AND METAL LEDGES: If you rush into the next room, Lara will be ambushed by 3 more rig workers (9-11). But if you proceed with caution, you can take them out one at a time. First, draw pistols and step into the doorway without going any farther. Lara will target the enemy on the catwalk (9) to the left, and you can shoot him without taking any damage or triggering the other enemies. Then enter the room and immediately take a running jump across the shallow pit on the left to land on the catwalk. An alarm starts blaring, but there's nothing you can do about it, so just go on about your business. Two bad guys with clubs (10-11) appear. One materializes inside the room; one enters through the door near the RED LOCK. They can't reach Lara on the catwalk. So take your time and use pistols to conserve ammo. Afterward, loot the bodies for a small medi pack, flares, and shotgun shells (19-21). (screenshots)

Locate the movable box at the right end of the catwalk where the first bad guy fell. Push it once. Go around to the ledge on the opposite side of the box. Climb up and pull the box once. Then return to the other side and push it once more so it's sitting on the protruding ledge. Climb onto the wide, metal ledge in the middle of the room. Take a running jump to grab the edge of the movable box and pull up. Step back to the outer corner of the box then jump into the doorway above (or grab the edge and pull up). (screenshots)

TWO POOLS AND GREEN LOCK: When you turn the corner a thug with a gun (12) starts shooting at you. Kill him and take his shotgun shells (22). Continue down the ramp into the next room. There's a closed trapdoor in the floor and a door with a GREEN LOCK on the right, but you don't yet have a key card for it. Pull the switch on the opposite wall to pump water from one of the two pools in the next room into the other. (screenshots)

Return up the ramp to the room with the movable box. Safety drop to the floor. Then climb onto the wide ledge and swim across the pool to the area with the big, orange tanks. Jump over the pipes on the right to land on the metal ledge near the wall. Jump up the slope and pull the switch to open the trapdoor in the room with the GREEN LOCK. (screenshots)

Swim back across the pool and return to the room with the GREEN LOCK via the movable box and elevated passageway. Drop through the trapdoor. Slide down the long slope and stop at the edge of the catwalk in the next room. There's water below, so Lara won't die, but you don't want to fall in yet. (screenshots)

NOTES: Save frequently during this next sequence since it's easy to miss a jump or accidentally step off a ledge. If you fall into the pool and don't want to reload, there's a ladder in the far left corner (relative to the long chute where you came in). Swim over there, climb out of the water onto the concrete footing and jump to grab the ladder. (screenshot) Climb back up to the catwalks and continue. If you'd rather not do any backtracking, you can get the Gold Dragon first, climb the ladder, make your way to the GREEN PASS CARD, then proceed to the exit. However, various enemies will shoot at you as you go. The route described here is longer but safer.

HUGE ROOM WITH POOL AND CATWALKS: After sliding down the chute onto the catwalk, you can see the Gold Dragon below on the right. If you go after it now, Lara will be an easy target for enemies on the catwalks and in the water. So let's take them out first. Start with the 2 scuba divers (13-14) below, one on the right, one on the left. You may need to move from one end of the catwalk to the other to get clear shots at both of them. If it's taking too long, move on. You'll have other opportunities as you explore. (screenshots)

Now make your way more or less clockwise around the room via the various catwalks. Start by moving to the left end of the catwalk where you started. Take a running jump to grab the edge of the next walkway; pull up. Go to the end of this walkway and take another running jump to grab the small platform ahead and a bit to the left; pull up. Step back and take a standing jump to the small platform between the column and the wall. Now, face the wall, draw pistols, sidestep to the left, and take out the guy with the gun (15) on the next catwalk. Carefully run onto the next ledge at the corner where the two ledges meet. (Or step back and use a standing jump with Action so Lara doesn't overshoot the ledge.) Take a running jump past the rectangular, metal pillar onto the catwalk against the far wall. Move to the right end of this L-shaped ledge with weapons drawn. Lara should target the next burly bad guy (16), who's lurking behind a column a little farther along. Steal the SHOTGUN (23) the nearest enemy dropped. Then take a running jump over to the ledge where the burly guy fell. Take his shotgun shells (24) and look for another enemy (17) on the next catwalk. You should be able to get him from here. (screenshots)

GREEN PASS CARD: Turn so the walkway with that last enemy is on Lara's right. (The Gold Dragon is also below on the right. We'll get there soon.) Take a running jump to the catwalk against the wall. Note the opening above. You'll be exiting here later. Move to the other end of this walkway and take a running jump onto the ledge ahead. Carefully line up the next running jump to the catwalk where the last bad guy fell. (Aim for the gap in the railing.) This enemy has no goodies, but you'll find the GREEN PASS CARD (25) in an alcove. Shoot out the glass and take it. (screenshots)

NOTE: When Lara shatters the glass, the alarm begins to sound once more. You can't shut it off, so just turn down the volume and go on.

GOLD DRAGON: We're now directly above the concrete footing with the secret. To get it without a single bruise, dive into the pool. (Watch out for the 2 scuba divers [13-14] if you didn't kill them earlier.) Pull up onto the footing at one of the corners nearest the dragon. Then run past the dragon and straight off the opposite edge to spawn 2 enemies with clubs (18-19) on the other side of the wide column. Swim to the next footing, climb onto it, and shoot the bad guys across the water. Swim back and pick up SECRET #3, the Gold Dragon (26), along with the UZIS and 2 sets of clips if you've found all secrets (27-29), and a small medipack (30), dropped by one of the rig workers. (screenshots)

NOTE: If you missed a secret along the way and don't unlock the UZIS here, fear not; there will be other opportunities.

When you're ready to go, swim to the footing in the diagonally opposite corner of the room from the Gold Dragon. Climb out and jump to grab the ladder on the wall. Climb up, dismount on the right, and follow that catwalk to the end. Then make your way across the catwalks to the exit. Remember, it's the opening above the catwalk on the end wall, just before the ledge where you got the GREEN PASS CARD. (The screenshots show the whole sequence.)

Climb into this opening and follow the passageway up a series of ramps to a ladder. Climb to the top of the ladder and continue to a hole in the floor. Draw the shotgun, step off the edge, and shoot the rig worker (20) who tries to club Lara in the narrow passageway below. Take his small medi pack (31) and proceed down the ramp into the room with the GREEN LOCK. (screenshots)

TWO POOLS AND GREEN LOCK: Use the same switch you used earlier to drain the first pool and refill the second. Then use the GREEN KEY CARD in the GREEN LOCK to open the door. (Do not drop into the open trapdoor. It's not dangerous, but you won't be able to climb back out, so you'll have to make your way back through the big room with the catwalks again.) Exit through the door you just opened and head down the steps to the left. Jump in the pool and swim through the opening on the far side. Follow the long, flooded passageway. When you reach the grate, pull the lever to open it and continue until you can surface. Head up the stairs to the next level. (screenshots)
