Tomb Raider "Gold" Bonus Levels OverviewIn 1998, two years after the original Tomb Raider came out, Eidos re-released the game as "Tomb Raider Gold". The new version included the original plus four bonus levels on a second CD. If you already own Tomb Raider, you can download the bonus levels free. (See the downloads page for details.) The new levels comprise two mini-adventures designed to challenge both novice and expert raiders. In the first two levels, "Shadow of the Cat," Lara returns to the city of Khamoon in search of an undiscovered tomb dedicated to the Egyptian cat-goddess, Bastet. In "Unfinished Business," having learned of the existence of a hive of surviving creatures guarding an alien hatchery, Lara returns to Atlantis to destroy the mutants before they invade again. ![]() Platforms: These bonus levels are available for Windows and Macintosh only. Saving Your Game: Unlimited saves at any point. (Savegame files are available in case you make a bad save, want to skip a level, etc.) Secrets: As in the original game, the number of secrets in each level varies. They consist of ammunition, medipaks, and the occasional weapon. A chime sounds when you locate a secret, and the statistics screen at the end of each level tells how many secrets were available in that level, along with how many you found. There is no bonus for finding all secrets. And, as always, my walkthrough includes the location of all secrets. Unfinished Business & Windows XP or 2000: Since it uses the Tomb Raider 1 game engine, this expansion pack was designed for the DOS operating system. You'll need to do a bit of tweaking to get it to run under Windows XP or Windows 2000. Our Quick Installation Guide has all the extra files you'll need and gives easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions. Unfinished Business & Windows Vista: To play TRUB on a system running Windows Vista, you may want to try VDos32 + Glidos. Instructions for setup are included on those sites. At this time, vDOS only works with 32-bit Vista, not the 64-bit installation. Becoming an Expert Raider: If you've never played Tomb Raider beforeor even if you haveI encourage you to check out my TR1 Controls and Gameplay Tips & Strategy pages. They include pointers on moving Lara through her environment, conserving health and ammo, using the menu and inventory systems, and much more. Tomb Raider "Gold" Bonus Level Walkthroughs
