STELLA'S TOMB RAIDER 2 REMASTERED WALKTHROUGH

LOOKING FOR DARK MODE?

The TR2 Remastered guide is now complete. For the guides that have not yet been updated, I will continue to link to the ORIGINAL WALKTHROUGHS, which cover all the basics. Please check the introductory notes at the start of the first level for info on my process, modern vs. classic tank controls, etc. This guide covers most but not all possible achievements/trophies. Follow this link for the archived classic guide.

EPILOGUE: HOME SWEET HOME (Remaster)

Updated: 8/1/26()

Starting Inventory: Gun Cupboard Key, Dagger of Xian
Pickups: 45, including the SHOTGUN (no secrets)
Kills: 16

Cinematic: This short level begins with Lara in her bedroom admiring her prize. The alarms go off as two van loads of Fiamma Nera goons bust into the estate. It looks like they aren't too happy about what Lara did to their boss.

Dragon's Lair & Home Sweet Home Video Walkthrough by Eldincy (HSH starts at 6:39)

OBJECTIVES: Defend Croft Manor against the intruders.

IMPORTANT: If you're after achievements/trophies, save the game at the beginning of the level. (You can save during the cutscene with the van.) You'll need to replay at least once to get everything. If you forget, you can also restart the level at any point by letting Lara die. Then press Action/Enter to open the Passport menu. Page to the right and choose "Restart Level."

The "Let's Dance" achievement/trophy is one of the most challenging in the game. To unlock it, you must defeat all enemies in the BALLROOM while the music is on. I recommend going for the other achievements first to get a feel for the layout and timing. Then reload and do "Let's Dance," saving frequently in new slots as you go. Details and tips are below.

BEDROOM AND GUN CUPBOARD: Press Look to cancel the cutscene showing the vans in the drive. Immediately side flip to the right, over the bed, then roll and jump/run forward to the keyhole. Use the GUN CUPBOARD KEY, which is already in your inventory, to unlock the closet door. ( You'll notice the DAGGER OF XIAN is also in your inventory. Unfortunately you can't use the dagger to change Lara into a dragon. So you'll have to fight the bad guys the old fashioned way.) Inside the closet, in the far left corner, is the loaded SHOTGUN (1) in a pile with 8 boxes of shells (2-9). There's more ammo—28 boxes of shotgun shells in 3 separate pickups (10-37)—along with 2 packs of flares, plus 1 small and 2 large medi packs (38-42). You won't have time to get everything at first, so jump up onto the shelf and grab the ammo in the middle, then the pile with the gun. (screenshots)

Two thugs with bats (1-2) will enter the bedroom through the door leading in from the MAIN HALL. To keep things simple, stay on the shelf in the closet, wait, and shoot these enemies as they approach. Then quickly gather the rest of the supplies. (screenshots)

NOTE: If you like, you can linger in the closet a bit longer. Eventually 2 gunmen and a doberman (4-6, below) will come to you. This can take a while, though, and you won't have much room to maneuver in the closet.

When you emerge from the closet, an armed cultist (3) shoots out the balcony window on the right. Take care of him and grab the box of shells (43) he drops. (screenshots)

Depending on how long you take in the bedroom, 2 more gunmen (4-5) and a Doberman (6) may appear. You can wait for them to arrive or go out to the MAIN HALL and meet them as they come up the stairs. Then head downstairs to the MAIN ENTRANCE. (screenshots)

The front door is standing open, and more enemies spawn when you go outside. You can draw them to you by stepping out just beyond the doorway then hopping back into the house. Move away from the open door, so they don't have line of sight. Then shoot each one as they enter, side-flipping back and forth to avoid taking too much damage. There's a bit of randomness involved in which enemies appear in which order, but in all, you'll meet 3 gunmen (7-9), 2 dogs (10-11), and 2 men with bats (12-13). The second batman tends to take his sweet time, but he'll show up eventually. Of course, if you enjoy wandering around in the dark in your nightie, you can instead go outside and hunt them down. One of the gunmen drops a small medipack (44). (screenshots)

FINAL PICKUP: If you've run out of ammo or just want the satisfaction of finding every item, exit the mansion, turn right and go through the opening in the ivy-covered stone wall. Go over or around the low wall/hedge on the left into the grassy area at the end of the ASSAULT COURSE. Near the last little tree on the right, you'll find another box of shotgun shells (45). This pickup is easy to miss, but you'll need it for the "Souvenirs from Around the Globe" achievement/trophy, which unlocks here if you found all 585 items in the game. (screenshots)

When you have it, head back toward the ASSAULT COURSE. Another gunman (14) and his dog (15) approach along the alley between the mansion and the wooden climbing structures. They may appear one at a time or together. Hop back as you shoot the dog and flip side to side if necessary to avoid being shot. (screenshots)

LEVEL BOSS: As soon as the man and dog die, the final enemy, a burly guy with 2 big guns (16), appears near the front door and makes a beeline toward you. This mini-boss is like the one in the crate room at the end of the OPERA HOUSE. (screenshots)

If you aren't interested in achievements/trophies, just try and kill the big guy quickly. Move in fairly close, get a lock, and jump side to side while firing. Or, try to get behind him then chase him in tight circles while shooting. He's tough, but when he falls, that's the end of the game.

To unlock the achievement/trophy "I Really Think I've Seen Enough!," you'll need to "make the Fiamma Nera boss appear in the final cutscene." For this to happen, you must lure him into the house and up to the BATHROOM before killing him. This may take a few attempts, so save the game in a new slot as soon as you kill the last regular enemy. Then roll and run back through the doorway in the ivy-covered wall. (If you like, you can take a few shots at the boss as you pass.) Continue forward, taking running jumps along the gravel drive, then turn left through the front door. Back in the MAIN HALL, run/jump up the left staircase and back into the BEDROOM, where you started. (screenshots)

Run/jump over or around the bed, past the GUN CUPBOARD, then right into the blue-and-white-tiled BATHROOM. Position Lara near the shower alcove in the far corner, roll, and wait for big ugly to arrive. As soon as Lara aims, fire continuously until his health bar is almost gone. (Enable Boss HP bars in the Controls menu if you haven't already done so.) Then hop back into the shower stall and sidestep left into the corner (i.e., your right, Lara's left). This forces the boss to move into the area in front of the shower so he'll be in frame during the next cutscene. Now finish him off. When the cutscene begins, as long as he's visible, the achievement/trophy should pop. (screenshots)

Cutscene: Lara has a few choice words for stragglers.

The achievement/trophy "I Think I've Seen Enough" unlocks automatically on the Final Statistics screen.

LET'S DANCE: The "Let's Dance" achievement/trophy requires you to "defeat all enemies in the ball room while music is on." As far as I know, you can save and reload as many times as you like, and you do not have to keep the music going the entire time. In fact, after the Challenge Mode update, pressing the button activates the music only once. When it finishes playing, pressing the button again does nothing. But as long as you turn the music on before killing the first enemy, it should be fine. You can then lure the enemies to the BALLROOM a few at a time, so you don't get mobbed, but you must kill all of them inside the BALLROOM (i.e., not in the archways leading into the room).

Here's the sequence: Reload your save from the beginning of the level. Or, if you forgot to make one, load any Home Sweet Home save, let Lara die, then press Action/Enter to open the Passport menu. Page to the right and choose "Restart Level." Save the game during the cutscene showing the cultists' vans arriving. Then press Look to cancel the cutscene. (screenshots)

Immediately side flip to the right, over the bed. Roll and jump/run forward to the keyhole. Use the GUN CUPBOARD KEY to unlock the door. Now grab as many supplies as you can before the first 2 enemies with bats (1-2) arrive. I'm sure you'll find your own method, but I had good luck going for the ammo pile in the middle first, then the pile with the SHOTGUN. If you jump directly onto the first pile and hold Action, Lara will start the pickup animation as soon as she lands. Quickly pick up the small medi pack and 2 large medi packs. (You can ignore the flares as long as you get the other pack.) If you take the large medi pack near the edge last, you can then side flip left onto the other shelf. Sidestep left and grab more shotgun shells. Lara may automatically pick up the nearby flares at the same time. Otherwise, step back and grab them. You'll need at least a few flares to light up the BALLROOM. Finally, hop back and grab the last pile of shotgun ammo, but only if there's time. You'll have another chance later. It's OK if you take a few hits, but try to get out of the closet with at least 3/4 of your health. (screenshots)

NOTE: I'm not numbering the pickups, since you probably won't get everything on this run anyway, but if you gathered everything in the closet except one pack of flares, you should now have the SHOTGUN with 74 rounds, 1 small and 2 large medi packs, and 6 flares. If you skip the last ammo pickup, you'll still have 54 rounds, which should be more than enough for now. You'll have a chance to return to the closet later. You'll also get another small medi pack and more shotgun ammo from enemies (below).

Run/jump past the 2 bat guys, out of the closet, and around the bed to the bedroom door. Take running jumps when practical to cover ground faster. (screenshots)

NOTE: Some guides recommend approaching the windows to get the attention of the gunman on the balcony (counted below). I would suggest not doing this. He'll probably notice Lara anyway, but if he doesn't, there are suggestions for dealing with him later.

If things are going well so far, save in a new slot. Then run out the door. Turn left and follow the landing forward, then right, toward the top of the stairs. Jump over/past any enemies you encounter on the way. At the top of the stairs, veer right and take a running jump over the railing to land on the tiled floor in the entryway below. Immediately roll and run forward into the BALLROOM. (Don't jump until Lara has moved under the archway, or you'll risk banging her face on the wall and getting stuck.) Light a flare and heal if necessary as you run into the BALLROOM and around to the right, to the button on the wall. Press it to turn on the music. Save again in a new slot if you like. (screenshots)

NOTE: After the Challenge Mode update, pressing the button activates the music only once. When it finishes playing, pressing the button again does nothing. But as long as you turn the music on before killing the first enemy, and lure each one to the BALLROOM before killing them, the achievement/trophy should still unlock.

At this point, you should have 5 or 6 enemies breathing down your bathrobe: The 2 guys with bats (1-2), a 2 gunmen (3-4) and their dog (5), and possibly the gunman (6) from the upstairs balcony. Draw your weapon as you hop/backflip away from the button and start shooting. Try to kill the gunmen first while evading the enemies with bats and the dog. This isn't always possible, but do what you can. Use the open space to backflip away from pummeling/biting enemies and flip side to side to minimize damage from gunfire. When this first group of enemies is dead, heal if necessary. And save again if things have gone well. (screenshots)

Now, check your kill count on the in-game statistics screen (Stopwatch). If it's 6, you've gotten every possible enemy so far. Pick up the shotgun shells the gunman from the upstairs balcony dropped. If the kill count is only 5, and there are no shotgun shells, the gunman on the balcony is probably stuck. You can use Photo Mode to check upstairs. To lure him out, run up to the bedroom to get him moving. Then quickly run back down to the BALLROOM. Wait for him to come inside, then kill him and take his ammo. If you like, you can now return upstairs to the GUN CUPBOARD and pick up anything you weren't able to get initially. (screenshots)

When you're ready for the next round, run out into the MAIN HALL. Step out beyond the front door to spawn more enemies out in the driveway. Then quickly roll, run/jump back to the BALLROOM, and turn to watch the enemies approach. They don't always appear in the same order, but, in all, you'll face 2 dogs (7-8), 3 more gunmen (9-11), and 2 guys with bats (12-13) (hop away firing). Again, check your kill count. You should have 13 kills at this point. If not, either wait here for the stragglers or run outside and lure them in. One of the gunmen drops a small medi pack. (screenshots)

NOTE: If you're desperate for ammo, or missed the "Souvenirs from Around the Globe" (all pickups) achievement/trophy the first time, you can take a risk and go for the shotgun shells in the little orchard at the end of the ASSAULT COURSE. Then run back to the BALLROOM. (Details above.) Otherwise, just continue as described here.

To spawn the last 2 regular enemies, run out the front door, turn right, and head for the doorway in the ivy-covered stone wall that leads to the ASSAULT COURSE. As you run run through the doorway, another gunman and his dog (14-15) appear at the beginning of the ASSAULT COURSE and head toward the house. Roll, and run back to the BALLROOM. Wait for the enemies there, and kill them like you did the others. (screenshots)

When the 15th enemy falls, the BOSS WITH THE BIG GUNS (16) appears out front and makes his way toward you. Back up into the BALLROOM as he enters, so you have plenty of room to maneuver. Get a lock on him and jump side to side while firing. Or, try to get behind him then chase him in tight circles while shooting. When he dies, the achievement/trophy unlocks. Now go get that hot shower. You deserve it! (screenshots)
