Diving Area - Shortcut in Room with Deep Pool and Mini-Sub

After killing the scuba divers and enemies with clubs in the ROOM WITH THE DEEP POOL AND MINI-SUBMARINE, as shown in the main walkthrough, you can skip the rest of the level and proceed to the exit by using a tricky jump from the alcove to the walkway.

The screenshots below and this short video show the setup and jump with classic tank controls. I'm told it's easier if you're proficient with modern controls. In that case, there's no need to grab. Just do a curved jump from the alcove to the walkway on the other side of the wall. (Check this Reddit post by ANoDE85 to see it done.)

If you're using tank controls, start by positioning Lara with her back to the right wall of the alcove and her left foot at or just beyond the edge of the floor.

Sidestep once to the right and back up again if necessary to ensure her back is still against the wall.

Pivot just slightly to the left. (You'll probably need to experiment a little to find the perfect angle.)

If you press Look, the view when she's lined up correctly will be something like this.

Save the game. Then if you don't nail the jump the first time, you can reload, tweak your position, and try again. Now, take a running jump...

If you've set it up correctly, Lara will actually take off just beyond the edge of the ledge.

As soon as she's airborne, press Right to curve the jump in that direction.

Wait until the last possible moment to press Action...

...and grab the ledge just to the left of the corner.

Pull up. Steal the small and large medi packs the bad guys dropped, plus 2 bundles of harpoons lying on the walkway close to the alcove where you started. Then exit through the smaller of the two doorways. Pick up the main walkthrough near the end at the "FLOODED PASSAGEWAY."
