Diving Area - Third "Fire Safety" Encounter and Second Machine Chip
NOTE: If you'd prefer to do this section without catching fire, skip down to the alternate tactics.
In the last section, we used the button hidden behind the crates near the spinning saw to raise a platform back at the HELIPAD, revealing a large, square opening in the floor that wasn't there before. Drop in and follow the short passageway to a hole in the floor.
There are two enemies in the room below: one with a baton (30) and one with a flamethrower (31) (3/9 for the "Fire Safety" achievement/trophy). If you want that achievement, save the game, ready the shotgun or Uzis, then step off the edge and fall into the room below.
The flamethrower is behind the central structure. Ignore him and run to the left. Kill the enemy with the baton.
Then run past him and through the door opposite the RED LOCK. This door opens automatically as you approach.
Run straight across the hall and start down the stairs leading down to the ROOM WITH THE POOL AND CIRCULAR SAW.
Stop halfway down, turn around, and wait for the flamethrower.
When he reaches the top of the stairs, roll...
...let him set Lara on fire, then continue down the stairs, healing as needed.
Veer right and fall into the pool.
Climb out of the water, kill the flamethrower, and return up the stairs and across the hall to the ROOM WITH THE RED LOCK to retrieve the SECOND MACHINE CHIP (29), below. Or, reload and play through without catching fire.
- OR -
To complete this section without catching fire, equip the Uzis or automatics and hop down into the ROOM WITH THE RED LOCK.
Try to kill the guy with the flamethrower first...
...then the one with the baton, jumping and dodging if possible. Even if you take a few hits, it's better than being torched.
The guy with the baton drops the SECOND MACHINE CHIP (29). Grab it and exit through the automatic doors opposite the RED LOCK .
Proceed directly across the hallway and down the stairs to the room with the POOL AND CIRCULAR SAW.
