DARK MODE?

Furnace of the Gods - Flooding the Ruins - Gold Nugget

Tomb Raider Golden Mask remastered screenshot
In the last section, you explored some of the ruins, killed a few guys in orange coats, and used a switch to open the double doors you passed earlier. Head up the steps directly opposite the window of the switch room (not the staircase with the pointed arch and closed gate at the top).

At the top of the steps, vault up onto the low, gray stone ledge, turn right, and continue forward through the rocky cave.

Beyond the spot where you killed the first mercenary are the doors you just opened.

Enter and pull the switch...

...to raise a barrier in the pool with the ice windows and flood the ruins. Turn around and return there now.

IMPORTANT: There are several biting catfish in the pool. If you're after the "Defensive Capabilities" achievement/trophy and also want all pickups, you may be able to do it with a lot of saving and reloading. However, it's much easier if you save before going into the water, and do not overwrite this save. Then play through the rest of the level twice—once to familiarize yourself with the level and get all pickups, then a second time to avoid the fish and get the achievement/trophy. That's what we'll do here.

Face out over the walkway where you dropped down earlier. Dive in and retrieve 2 bunches of harpoons (53-54) on the sparkly floor near the left wall and the small medi pack (55) on the block to the right of the walkway, provided you didn't pick it up earlier.

As you explore, a biting catfish (36) swims out of the building where you found the automatic pistol clips before. So, quickly swim up to the roof of the nearest of the two small buildings.

...and shoot the fish with pistols. Then save in a new slot going forward.

Next, swim down and retrieve the GOLD NUGGET (56) on the bottom of the pool between the buildings and a large medi pack (57) on the lower level of the single building, where the catfish came from.

Take a breath, then swim down into the lower right room of the two adjacent buildings.

Here you'll find automatic pistol clips (58) in the near right corner guarded by a second catfish (37).

Grab the ammo, roll, swim out past the fish, and head for the surface.

Climb out of the water and shoot the fish.

The third catfish (38) guarding the final pickup clearly holds a deep-seated grudge against looters. To conserve health, swim down into the lower room in the left building.

Approach the ammo in the near right corner to spawn the fish in the doorway behind you, but don't pick it up yet. Instead, swim through the window on the right. In the next room, turn right again...

Climb out of the pool and shoot the angry fish.

Then go back for the pickup: 2 sets of auto pistol clips (59-60).

When you have everything, swim over to the wide, orange stairs with the pointed archway and wade out of the water.

Use the GOLD NUGGET in the receptacle at the top of the stairs to open the exit.

DARK MODE: I plan to add optional dark mode for these pages, but my current priority is updating the walkthroughs. Meanwhile, may I suggest a reputable dark mode browser extension, such as Dark Reader? (Download only from trusted sites, like darkreader.org or your browser's official add-on/extension site.)
