DARK MODE?

The Base - Submarine Dock - Left Side - "Double Down" Achievement/Trophy

Tomb Raider Chronicles Remastered screenshot
After obtaining the DESERT EAGLE and LASER SIGHT, as shown in the previous section, combine them in your inventory and save the game before returning outdoors to the crane area. There are now snipers (8-9) (24-25/62) in two of the high windows. The "Double Down" achievement/trophy requires you to kill both snipers without taking damage.

Run/sprint to the behind the two wooden crates against the right wall of the open area. You can either go under the suspended box and around the train car (white/left arrows above), follow the wall around to the right (pink/right arrows), or just race diagonally across the open area (green/middle arrow). If Lara makes it to the safe spot behind the crates without taking damage, quick-save again.

Lara is safe here from both snipers. They're hiding behind the two broken windows above and only lean out when Lara moves into the open. So you can deal with them one at a time.

Position Lara facing the wooden crate with the train car on her right. Step toward the right corner of the crate but not too far out. Then pivot just slightly to face the left side of the first sniper's window. The screenshot above shows the ideal angle.

Sidestep once to the right.

Press Look for laser-sight view, then immediately pan upward.

If you've set it up correctly, the first sniper will be directly in your crosshairs—no need to zoom in or pan left/right—and one headshot should take him out. You don't have to one-shot the snipers for the achievement, but the faster you are, the less time they'll have to return fire. If Lara hasn't taken any damage in the process, save and continue.

Next, head for the two stacked wooden crates below the second sniper's window. Lara is less likely to get hit if you run around the right side the train car then past the crane to the wooden crates.

Use the same basic tactic here. Stand facing the right corner of the crates, safe from the sniper above. Pivot a wee bit...

...so when Lara sidesteps to the right...

...you can activate the laser sight, pan straight upward, and pop the sniper before he can fire back.

If you're able to kill both snipers without taking damage, the achievement/trophy registers immediately.

Return through the doorway below the second sniper's window to the GENERATOR ROOM.

Go behind the generator...

...and place the FUSE you collected earlier in the slot where a fuse is missing. A door opens nearby, and the lights and fans come on.

NOTE: In the unlikely event you missed the FUSE, it's back in the LOCKER ROOM where you found the DESERT EAGLE. (Check the main walkthrough for details.)

Go back around the generator. Kill the dog (10) (26/62) that enters from outside.

Then go through the door that just opened—it's just before the side room with the generator—and press the button.

Cutscene: The crane rotates, moving the dangling box.

Return outdoors. Climb onto the box on the train car. From there take a running jump to grab the box hanging from the crane. Pull up. Then jump onto the submarine to finish the level.

DARK MODE: I plan to add optional dark mode for these pages, but my current priority is updating the walkthroughs. Meanwhile, may I suggest a reputable dark mode browser extension, such as Dark Reader? (Download only from trusted sites, like darkreader.org or your browser's web store.)
