TOMB RAIDER GBC: ROYAL TOMBS B
NOTE: Letter designations for switches (S#), doors (D#), save crystals (C#), etc., in the text refer to labels on the corresponding level maps. The switches are numbered to match their corresponding doors (e.g., switch 1 opens door 1, switch 3 extends ledge 3, etc.). All pick-ups are marked on the map (I hope). Enemies and hazards are noted in the walkthrough but not on the maps.
You enter the level near the bottom right of the map. Go left, hop down one level and shoot the ceiling switch (S1) to open the gold trapdoor (D1). Climb down the ladder. When you approach the pile of bones, a skeleton animates. Destroy it and then go to the right. Kill 2 scorpions and pick up dynamite and a small medipak (lower level) plus heavy and rapid bullets (upper level). Climb back up the ladder.
Continue to the left and slide down the ramp ahead. (Don't bother jumping to grab the monkey bars; you'll miss a pick-up down below.) At the bottom, duck and roll through the concealed passageway on the right to find rapid bullets, a small medipak and dynamite. Roll back out of the tunnel and continue to the left past some dart traps in the floor.
Climb up onto a ledge with a pile of bones, a small medipak and a save crystal (C1).
Climb the ladder on the left wall to the first ledge. You may be able to shoot the skeleton from the ladder. Backflip to the ledge and use the red switch (S1) to open the blue door (D1) on the ledge above. Take a running jump back to the ladder, climb up one more level and backflip to land on the ledge. Go through the open door and follow the hall to the right.
Drop down into a room with lit braziers and 2 scorpions. Shoot them and then shoot another scorpion on the ledge above and to the right. Climb up two ledges to a ledge with a pile of bones and dart traps in the floor and ceiling. Pick up a small medipak and use the red switch (S2) to open the gold trapdoor (D2) at the top of the ladder back to the left.
Backtrack to the left (to the blue door). Position Lara at the edge of the ledge and jump straight up to grab the trapdoor opening. Pull up and then quickly jump the gap and climb the ladder on the left wall to avoid the darts.
At the top of the ladder, backflip to land at the edge of a ledge with retracting spikes. Wait for the spikes to recede and then run to the safe spot on the right. Climb onto the ledge with the large medipak and then continue to the right. At the huge pile of bones, duck and roll under the low overhang and use save crystal (C2).
Use dynamite to blow up the gray door. Kill the scorpion on the other side. Continue to the right, climb up two ledges and a ladder. A bat flies down from the left. You may be able to shoot it from the ladder. Backflip off the ladder to the ledge with heavy bullets and a small medipak. You'll also encounter another bat here.
Climb up to the left and then slide down the ramp to another big pile of bones. Some of the bones rise up into a skeleton. Shoot it and continue to the left past a rectangular gray carving to a doorway with a flame above (marked "A" on the level map).
Before exiting, climb into the concealed passageway on the left. Kill the snake at the end and take the large medipak. Return to the doorway and go through to the next area.
NOTE: Be sure to print this map using landscape (horizontal) orientation.
You enter at the top right corner of the map (through the carved gray doorway marked "A"). Go to the left past a gold trapdoor (D3) to a wall with a ladder on it supported by two columns. Pick up the dynamite between the columns (if you don't already have some) and then climb the ladder. The skeleton at the top animates and he's hard to kill on the small platform without taking some hits. If you don't care about all the kills, you can just shoot the ceiling switch (S3) from the ladder and then climb back down.
Backtrack to the right to the gold trapdoor (D3), which will open. Drop down onto the ledge below and then climb down the ladder. (Be careful of the spikes below.) Shoot the skeleton on the ledge to the right from the ladder and then jump over there. Go to the right, shoot 2 scorpions and pick up 2 small medipaks and 2 sets of heavy bullets. Return to the left, take a running jump to grab the ladder and climb back to the top. Continue left to the next save crystal (C3).
Do not shoot the next ceiling switch (S4). This only opens the 3 gold trapdoors (D4) bove the spike pit. Instead, continue over the trapdoors to the gray door. Use dynamite to blast it open. (Opening the trapdoors makes it harder to get out of the way of the blast.) Keep going to the left, over another closed gold trapdoor (D15) flanked by lit braziers.
When you reach the area with the small flat ledges that aren't extended from the wall yet (L14), climb down two ladders, killing a bat on the middle level and a scorpion at the bottom. Roll under the wall where the scorpion came out and then drop down one more level to land on a ledge with a small medipak.
You may notice the recessed ladder rungs (L12) on the left wall. You'll be able to extend them later on so you can climb up. For now, go to the right. Shoot the mummy on the level below, jump down two levels and continue to the right. (Leave the gray door for now.) Shoot a pair of bats and keep going to the right.
Pass a shallow pit with dart traps on both sides. A little farther on, you'll come to a ledge with dynamite and a save crystal (C4).
Shoot the ceiling switch (S5) to extend the ledges (L5) over the spike pit ahead. Make your way down the ledges to the right side about halfway down. When you reach the ledge nearest the right wall, start working your way back to the right. Jump to the ledge with the gray door and spikes. Lara will take a little damage. Use dynamite to blow up the door. Go through, kill the mummy on the ledge ahead and climb up. Use the rungs on the ceiling to monkey swing across the spike pit. Pick up rapid bullets (2x), dynamite and a large medipak. Monkey swing back to the right side, walk out to the spike ledge and jump to the pink ledge ahead.
Now climb down the ledges to the bottom left corner above the retracting spikes. When the spikes recede, hop down from the ledge and run to the left to safety.
(NOTE: As far as I can tell, the ceiling switch just inside this room doesn't do anything. I marked it "S?" on the map. Perhaps it was designed to extend the ledges after approaching them from below.)
Go to the left. Destroy the 2 skeletons on the level below before dropping down. Continue to the left. Before climbing down the ladder take a running jump to the hidden passage ahead on the left. Get the large medipak at the end, take a running jump back to the ledge with the ladder and climb down past the dart traps.
Go to the right. Kill 2 scorpions behind the next wall and continue right. After rolling under the wall supported by short columns, climb the ladder to the carved gray doorway (marked "B" on the map) and go through to a new area.
You enter at the top left corner of the map (through the doorway marked "B" on the map). Climb down the ledges on the left side of the spike pit. On the lowest ledge, take a running jump to the ledge on the right with the save crystal (C5). Jump to the concealed passage on the right. Grab the large medipak and heavy bullets and then jump back to the ledge with the crystal. Now climb up the ledges on the right side of the pit and jump over to the alcove with the red switch (S6a). Use it to open a door back in the other room.
Climb back down the ledges on the right side of the pit to the crystal. Take a running jump to the lowest ledge on the left and then climb back up the left side ledges to the top. Go through the doorway ("A") back to the main area.
Royal Tombs B - Map 2 (again)
(You come back in through the door marked "B" on the map.) Climb down the ladder and go right, climbing up several ledges to the blue door (D6) you just opened. On the other side is a red switch (S6b), which closes this door.
Continue to the right. Climb down a ladder and follow the long hallway with bone piles and three decorative archways. On the way, you'll meet a mummy and a reaper. At the end, go through the carved gray doorway (marked "C" on the map) to a new area.
You enter at the top right corner of this map (through the doorway marked "C"). Pick up the small medipak and go to the left. Hop down two levels; shoot a mummy and use the save crystal (C6). Now head up and to the left, killing 2 scorpions and a skeleton as you go. Take a running jump to grab the ladder on the left wall. Climb halfway down and backflip into the concealed passageway. At the end you'll find a large medipak, heavy bullets and dynamite. Return to the opening and safety drop to the ground.
Head down and to the right. Shoot the 2 scorpions in the pit and hop down to get the small medipak. Climb out on the right and keep going to a wide pit with a pile of bones in it. Shoot the snake, grab the small medipak and then deal with the skeleton that rises up from the bone pile. Climb out of the pit on the right and pick up the large medipak.
Keep going to the right. Hop down one level and shoot a skeleton. Descend two more levels to find heavy bullets and a save crystal (C7). A reaper lurks underneath the ledge with the crystal. Load up those heavy bullets and jump down to confront him.
Now go to the left. Drop down one level and shoot a bat. Continue to the left. The gold trapdoor (D7) opens as you approach. Safety drop from the right side of the opening onto the slope below. Jump at the end to land at the top of the two-sided slope below. Shoot another bat, pick up the large medipak and slide down the right side.
Drop down one level and look for a concealed passage on the right. Go through to get a small medipak and heavy bullets (2x). Return to the left and continue past the bone pile to some white floor tiles. Fall through the tiles into the pit below. Use the save crystal (C8) and flip the red switch (S8) to open the blue door (D8) above. Climb out of the pit and continue to the left.
Climb onto the ledge with the small medipak. Roll under the low overhang and go straight on to some rapid bullets. Backtrack to the short ladder and climb up until you're just below the gold trapdoor (D9). (Watch out for the dart traps.) Backflip onto the ledge with the DOOR KEY (DK). Shoot the ceiling switch (S9) to open the trapdoor and climb up through the opening.
Pick up the large medipak concealed behind the bones to the left. Shoot the ceiling switch (S10) above and to the left to open the blue door (D10) to the right. Climb down the ladder to the left.
Here you'll find the ALTAR. You're missing the ALTAR KEY, so you can't use the altar yet. But beyond it to the left is a red switch (S11). Use that to extend a ladder (L10) on the left wall.
The doorway at the top (marked "D" on the map) leads back to the previous area, but there's a closed trapdoor (D16 on Map 2) preventing you from leaving that way. Instead, you'll need to backtrack through this level to the door where you originally entered (marked "C" on the map).
So, go to the right, past the altar, and climb back up the ladder. Continue to the right. Jump over the trapdoor opening, go through the blue door (D10) you opened with the ceiling switch (S10), jump the second trapdoor opening (D7), where you slid down the ramp earlier) and keep going to the right edge of the map.
Climb onto the ledge with the save crystal (C7). Climb up two levels and keep going all the way across the map to the left. When you reach the ladder on the left wall, climb to the top. Backflip onto the ledge and then go all the way to the right, past the save crystal (C6) to the doorway where you entered this area (marked "C" on the map). Return through the doorway to the previous area.
Royal Tombs B - Map 2 (again)
Now that you have the DOOR KEY, backtrack all the way across the bottom of the map to the left. (NOTE: If you used the switch (S6b) to close door (D6) at the end of the hallway at the lower right of the map, use it again to open the door and go through.)
At the bottom left corner of the map, look for the ladder above on the right. Climb up and go to the right to the retracting spikes. At the edge of the spikes, wait for them to retract, run forward until Lara is a few steps ahead of the first ledge and then jump forward onto it.
Climb the ledges to the top left and jump over to save crystal (C4). From the crystal, head left until you come to the gray door. Use dynamite to blow it up (there's more dynamite near the save crystal if you don't have any). Go in (watch out for the dart traps) and use the red switch (S12) to extend ladder rungs (L12) on the wall on the next level up.
Exit this room and climb up and to the left to the new ladder. Climb the ladder nearly to the top. Backflip to land on the ledge with the hole and blue door (D13). Use the DOOR KEY to unlock the door and go through. Use the red switch (S14) to extend the ledges (L14) in the area to the right.
Jump to the first ledge and then climb straight up two more ledges. Jump over to the ledge on the left. Go through the hidden passageway to a room with a small medipak and heavy bullets. Return to the open area with the thin ledges and jump straight up to grab the rungs on the ceiling. Monkey swing across to the right side.
Use the red switch (S15). Then continue to the right through a concealed passage to some white floor tiles. Use dynamite (there's some nearby) to blow up the tiles. Climb down the ladder and let go at the end to land next to the gold trapdoor (D15), which will slide open.
Climb down the ladder into the room below. Climb over the wall to the right and continue past the next gold trapdoor (D16). Drop down one level and use the red switch (S17) under the overhang to the left. This extends a set of ledges (L17) in the next room. Roll under the overhang to the right and climb the ladder. At the top is save crystal (C9).
Now climb the thin ledges to the top left where you'll find another red switch (S18). Use it to open the gold trapdoor (D18) below. Climb down to the floor, drop into the pit and get the ALTAR KEY (AK). Use the red switch in the pit (S16) to open the gold trapdoor (D16) in the area to the left. Return there and drop through the opening. Go through the carved doorway (marked "D" on the level map).
Royal Tombs B - Map 4 (again)
You re-enter this area at the middle left (through the doorway marked "D" on the map). Use the save crystal (C10) and then take a running jump to grab the ladder on the left wall. Climb down to the ALTAR.
[NOTE: If you didn't extend the ladder earlier, using the switch (S11) on the wall below, you can safety drop from the ledge, but Lara will lose some health.]
Use the ALTAR KEY at the center of the altar to open it and get another STAFF SEGMENT (SS). Climb back up the ladder on the left wall to the doorway ("D" on the map) and return to the previous area.
Royal Tombs B - Map 2 (again)
You re-enter this area through the doorway near the center of the map (marked "D"). Climb out of the pit and go to the left, through the room with the pit where you found the ALTAR KEY earlier. Now that you have the STAFF SEGMENT, the blue door (D19) on the right side of that room is open. Follow the long hallway to the left past several archways and lit braziers to finish the level.
