TOMB RAIDER: CURSE OF THE SWORD - DOCKS PART 2
This walkthrough covers maps 8 through 11, from the main part of the Chemical Plant to the end. Some of the earlier maps are referenced below, since you pass through them again. For links to the printable maps, check the Docks - Part 1 walkthrough or the Maps Index.
NOTE: Letter designations for switches (S#), doors (D#), save crystals (C#), etc., in the text refer to labels on the corresponding level maps. The switches are numbered to match their corresponding doors (e.g., switch 1 opens door 1, switch 3 extends ledge 3, etc.). All pick-ups are marked on the map (I hope). Enemies and hazards are noted in the walkthrough but not on the maps.
Left Side: This time you enter the Chemical Plant at the middle left (through door D15b). Shoot the 2 bad guys on the catwalk from below. Climb up onto each catwalk to get a small medipak (2x). Climb the ladder on the right wall to the top. Monkey swing across the wires on the ceiling, pausing at the electrified section to wait for the long off phase.
On the other side, drop down and use the first aid station to get full health. Run through the room filled with poison gas to the left. (The doors open automatically.) Be sure to keep running and Lara will make it through with a little health to spare. Use the first aid station on the other side. Then shoot the bad guy.
Go through the open door (D16a) to emerge at the bottom of the same map (through door D16b).
Right Side: Go right and shoot the 2 bad guys on the catwalks from below. Climb up onto the catwalk on the right. Climb up one more level and pick up the small medipak. If you want to, you can jump over to the catwalk on the left (at the middle level) and shoot the enemy above through the opening in the floor.
Climb over the catwalks to the right and drop down to the floor to get some rapid bullets. Climb back onto the catwalk and take a running jump to grab the ladder on the right wall. Climb to the top. Look to the left to attract a thug with a gun. Shoot him from the ladder and then backflip to the ledge with the large medipak. Take a running jump across the gap to the left. Go past the low fence with the yellow stripes and pick up some shotgun rounds. Return to the opening in the floor and drop down.
Slide down the ramp to the right. Shoot the bad guy if you didn't do it before, and then use the machine (M17) to start the exhaust fans. This pumps the poison gas on the other side of the plant from the upper room into a room below. Jump the gap in the floor and safety drop off the left side. Lara will lose some health but not as much as if she dropped on the other side. Jump down to the floor and go to the left. Exit this room through the open door (D16b).
Left Side: From the top left of the map (near door D16a), go to the right, through the room that had the poison gas in it earlier. (You can still use one of the first aid stations if you need it.) Safety drop to the catwalk below. Hop down to the floor, go left past the entrance (D15b) and climb onto the other catwalk. Safety drop off the left end to land near a ladder. (Don't just step off; it's a long fall.)
From the ledge below the catwalk, jump to grab the ladder on the left wall. Climb down. Go to the right, use the first aid station and run through the room with the poison gas.
There's a big, green über-zombie in here. If you enter without using the vents to move the poison gas, the monster pummels Lara and won't let her pass. Now he's too busy choking on the gas to bother her. Quickly run through and out the other side. Use the first aid station to restore full health. There's a save crystal (C6) to the right of the open door (D18a). Save and go through.
Docks - Map 7 (again)
You came into this area briefly earlier to use the sprinkler control at the top right corner. Now you enter at the bottom (through door D18b). A thug with a club tries to beat on Lara. Run to the right to put a little distance between you, but not as far as the pounding machines. When you've killed the thug, navigate the traps. Lara can walk through them when they're moving upward without taking any damage.
On the other side, climb up two ledges and take a running jump to grab the ledge to the left. Pull up and, again, walk carefully past the series of pounders. On the other side there's a save crystal (C7).
Continue to the left. The next set of double pounders is a bit trickier. Position Lara just under the overhanging ceiling (so there's a full step between her and the first pounder). Crouch and roll through just as the pounder starts to go up. Crouch between the first and second sets of pounders and wait until the first set has gone all the way up. Roll twice and you should make it through both sets.
Immediately draw weapons and shoot the thug with the gun in the next room. (The black-and-white door opens automatically.) Pick up the small medipak and use the computer (S19) to extend the ladder rungs (L19) in the room to the left. Exit the way you came, past the double pounders to the save crystal (C7). Keep going to the right, past the series of single pounders. On the other side, take a running jump to the right. Climb down the ledges and make your way back to the left, past the first set of pounding machines.
Go all the way along the bottom of the map to the left. The black-and-white door opens as Lara approaches. Jump over the pool of toxic goo and climb the ladder (L19). Backflip to the ledge at the top. Go to the right. The next black-and-white door also opens automatically. Draw weapons, approach the door, and shoot the guy with the club. He won't go farther than the doorway. Inside the room, use the computer (S20) to extend several ledges (L20a-c) in the room above. Exit to the left, take a running jump to grab the ladder and climb down. Jump over the pool of goo and return to the right.
(NOTE: I recommend stepping out through door D18a to use the save crystal (C6) in the previous area again. This will save much backtracking if Lara gets squashed by the pounders.)
Make your way back to the right side of this map, past the first set of pounders. Climb the ledges and jump to grab the ledge near the second set of pounders. Go through to the save crystal (C7).
Climb the ladder above the crystal. Jump to the ledge (L20a) to the left. (There's only a pool of toxic goo to the right.) Walk to the left edge, jump to grab the floor above and pull up. Walk toward the black-and-white door just until it opens. The bad guy inside won't shoot Lara if she doesn't enter the room, so you can kill him without taking hits.
Enter the room and use the computer (S21) to open the black-and-white door (D21) to the left. Enter the inner sanctum and pick up rapid bullets, the SUB DOCK KEY (K), an EMPTY BATTERY (B2) and a large medipak. Exit to the right, through the two black-and-white doors.
Shoot the guy with the gun on the ledge above and then climb up onto the small ledge (L20b) overhead. Jump over to the right and climb up near another set of pounding machines. Walk past each one as it starts to move upwards. Shoot another bad guy on the next ledge to the right (if you didn't get him the first time you entered this building). Hop over and pick up another EMPTY BATTERY (B3). Safety drop to the floor below and exit to the right.
(NOTE: Before exiting the Chemical Plant you should have the SUB DOCK KEY and 3 EMPTY BATTERIES. If not, check the walkthrough above to find what you're missing.)
Docks - Map 4 (again)
You're only on this map for a moment as you cross the catwalk between the two buildings. Enter the warehouse on the right.
Docks - Map 5 (again)
You come in on the left (through door D8). Go right, jump the gap and climb down the ladder. Continue to the right, through the door (D5) and past the conveyor belt. Hop down near the machine (M4) and continue right and down to the girders. Climb down to the floor and go left. Beyond the door (D3) with the blue box holding it open is the exit (D2b). Exit the building.
Docks - Maps 4, 3, 1 and 2 (again)
Use the save crystal (C3) outside the warehouse again. Then make your way back to the right, across the maps you crossed earlier. Map 4 (with the Chemical Plant and Warehouse) connects to Map 3 (with the cranes, spike pits and save crystal C2), which connects to map 1 (where you started). On Map 1, continue right to the water and swim down and right to get back to Map 2.
Docks - Map 2 (again)
(NOTE: When you return to this area, you should have the SUB DOCK KEY and 3 EMPTY BATTERIES. If not, check the walkthrough for the previous areas to find what you're missing.)
You enter this area through the underwater tunnel on the left. Last time you only came in far enough to get a key. Now you need to explore further. Swim to the right. There's an air pocket in the ceiling a little ways along. Get air. Then continue to the right and upward to surface in a room with a mini-sub hanging from a crossbeam.
Climb out of the water on the left and use the SUB DOCK KEY at the computer (S22) to disarm the laser trap. Follow the hall to the left and go through the #3 door (D23a).
You emerge at the bottom left of the same map, through the #1 door (marked D23b on the map). Use the save crystal (C8) and climb partway down the ladder. Shoot the thug with the gun below and drop to the floor.
You meet another bad guy as you head to the right. Kill him and continue right, taking out 2 more bad guys as you go. (You can shoot the first from below and the second from the ledge with the diving suits.) At the end of the hallway, pick up the shotgun rounds hidden behind the column and use the battery-charging machine (BC1) to charge one of your batteries.
Return to the left, climb the ladder (use save crystal C8 again if you like) and take a running jump to grab the platform in the middle of the room. Take another running jump to grab the ledge to the right. Pull up. Shoot the goon on the level above and climb up. Go right and exit through the #2 door (D24a).
You enter this area at the top right corner through a door labeled "Bio-Lab 1" (D24b on the map). Go left, hop down one level and take a running jump across the gap to the left to grab the ladder. Climb up and go left. Use the use the battery-charging machine (BC2) to charge one of your batteries. Return to the ladder, climb down and backflip to grab the ladder on the right. Climb down but don't drop.
If you're patient, you can shoot the 2 bad guys below from the ladders. You may have to jump back and forth between the ladders once or twice. When they're dead, drop down. Go to the right, past two zombie-breeding tanks to get an EMPTY BATTERY (B4). Go left to the ladder leading down.
Climb down to the level below. Shoot the thug with the club below on the right and hop down. Continue right past two zombie tanks. Take a running jump to grab the ladder on the right wall. Climb down and head left. Shoot the zombie on the level below before hopping down. Go to the left until you meet another zombie. Use the shotgun to destroy him, or run back to the right and climb onto the ledge to kill him with pistols. Continue left past a series of tanks, walking through the broken glass.
Hop down one level, shoot the fat and skinny zombies below and continue left. At the end of the hallway is another battery-charging machine (BC3), where you can charge one of your batteries.
Return to the right as far as you can go. Climb the ladder and backflip to the ledge behind. Now go back to the left to the ladder where you climbed down earlier. (There's another "Bio-Lab 1" sign on the wall here.)
Climb back up the ladder and take a running jump to the left, grab the opposite edge and pull up. Go left and climb up two levels. Take a running jump across the next gap to a ledge with a small medipak. Get it and drop down to the level below. Take care of the guy with the club and go left. Take another running jump across the next gap to grab the opposite edge. Pull up and take the EMPTY BATTERY (B5). Safety drop to the ledge below and pick up shotgun rounds. Drop down once more and kill 2 bad guys.
Go to the right, past the two zombie-breeding tanks. Climb down the ladder and use the battery-charging machine (BC4) to charge one of your batteries. Roll under the overhang to the left and climb down the long ladder. Continue left, hop down and take a running jump to grab the ladder to the left. Climb partway down and shoot the fat zombie below. Drop down.
Walk through the broken glass to the right. Then take a running jump to grab the ladder ahead. Climb up and shoot the thug with the gun. (Or, get his attention and then climb back down and shoot him from the ledge before climbing back up.) Use the save crystal (C9) and pick up the rapid bullets. Climb back down the ladder and drop.
Jump across the gap to the right. When you see the fat zombie in a diaper, jump back across the gap to shoot him. Jump to the right once more and continue. There's a skinny zombie lurking near the broken tank. Back away shooting. Walk through the broken glass, shoot the zombie on the level below and drop down. Pick up the small medipak and use the battery-charging machine (BC5) to charge one of your batteries.
Climb back up and return left to the gap in the floor. Jump across and climb down the ladder. Go to the right to get another EMPTY BATTERY (B6). (NOTE: If you've followed the walkthrough, you'll now have the 6 BATTERIES you need, 5 of which will be charged.)
Now, return to the top right of the map: Climb the ladder out of this room. Go left, climb up one level and continue left past the broken tanks. Climb the ladder on the left wall and take a running jump across the gap. (Don't backflip from the ladder or Lara will land in the broken glass.) Go right, climb the next ladder, roll under the overhang near the battery-charging machine (BC4). Climb the ladder above and take a running jump to the right. Grab the edge and pull up. Continue right to the next overhead ladder. Climb up. Keep going right to the two ladders above. Climb the ladder you can reach, go right and exit through the "Bio-Lab 1" door (D24b).
Docks - Map 2 (again)
You re-enter this area through the #2 door (D24a on the map). Go to the left and take a running jump to grab the platform in the middle of the room. Pull up and take another running jump to grab the wall with the ladder. Climb up and use the save crystal (C8) again. Exit through the #1 door (D23b) to emerge at the top left of the map (through the #3 door, D23a).
Go back along the hall to the right. When you reach the pool, climb the ladder above and backflip onto the beam holding the mini-sub. Go to the right, hop down near the short ladder and continue right. Kill the thug with the gun and use the battery-charging machine (BC6) to charge your last battery.
(NOTE: If you're missing any of the 6 BATTERIES or any of them haven't been charged, check the walkthrough above to see what you missed.)
Return to the left and use the 6 CHARGED BATTERIES to operate the crane (C) and lower the sub into the water. Lara is automatically placed in the sub. The underwater gate to the left closes, and the gate to the right opens. Drive through to the next area.
(NOTE: The next two areas have no save points, so I'm not sure if they're officially part of the docks or not. I have labeled the maps Docks - Map 10 and 11.)
(NOTE: This map is wider than a standard 8½" x 11" sheet of paper. Unless your printer automatically scales images to fit the paper, be sure to print it using landscape (horizontal) orientation, or the edges will be cut off.)
The mini-sub controls are the same as for Lara swimming. You have unlimited air, but Lara will take damage inside the sub if you hit a mine. Use medipaks as usual to restore health.
Map 10 is basically a simple underwater maze, lined with mines. Some of the mines are stationary; others are magnetic and are attracted to the hull of the sub. You can sometimes outmaneuver these, causing them to crash on the rocks instead of the sub. A third type of mine moves up and down. You can avoid these by waiting for them to move to the top or bottom of the tunnel then scooting through.
I haven't included a walkthrough, but you can refer to the level map to get from the left side, where you enter, to the right, where you exit to the next map. There are no save points or pick-ups.
There is no walkthrough for this level either. Refer to the map if you want to. Make your way to the right, through the underwater mines, to the ship. When you reach the far right, the level ends.
Cut scene: Lara places a tracking device on the hull of the boat.
Cut to Teterboro Airport. Jane congratulates Lara on a job well done. Using the bug she placed, they were able to track the cult to the Caribbean. Apparently their hideout is in the Backlin Islands, once the site of a prison and home to many caves and traps. Jane warns Lara to be careful.
Lara pilots a small plane to the Caribbean. As she nears the cult's island base, a missile streaks upward, blowing the plane out of the sky. Fortunately, Lara escapes unscathed. She catches her breath and heads across the jungle toward a dark, hulking structure.
