Stella's Tomb Raider 2013 Walkthrough - For Windows, Macintosh, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One

NOTE: Combat strategy is based on the Medium difficulty setting, so your experience may vary slightly. In addition to the walkthroughs for each level, there are separate pages for Controls & Gameplay Tips, Skill & Weapon Upgrades, and Collectible Items.

SAVING AND CHECKPOINTS: Like the last several games, TOMB RAIDER uses autosave checkpoints. Whenever you pass a checkpoint, the game is saved automatically. Then, if Lara dies or you quit the game and restart, the game reloads at the last checkpoint. If you only rely on one autosave, you may run into trouble if you get stuck in the game, encounter a bug, or if your autosave file becomes corrupted. To avoid problems, I highly recommend changing your save slot at least once each level. You may also want to periodically back up your autosaves on a memory card (consoles) or into a separate folder (PC). See the controls page for details.

AREA 15: SHANTYTOWN (part 2)

Updated: 9/8/13()

Shantytown is a sprawling level so I have divided it into two sections: the area leading up to the ancient gate is covered in Part 1. The area beyond the gate is described below.

Camps: Ancient Gate (Day Camp), Windmill (Fast Travel), Chamber of Judgment (Day Camp), Vista Tower (Day Camp)*
Gear: none  Weapons/Weapon Parts: Handgun Part (2/3)
Documents
: 2/5  Relics: 3/7  GPS caches: 10/15  Treasure Maps: GPS Cache Map
Challenge Tombs: 1/2  Challenges: Laid to Rest - 3/5 items; Silencer - 4/4 items **
Area Map: Shantytown Part 2**

*In addition to the four camps you discover in the area beyond the gate, the Helicopter Hill fast travel camp and the day camp in the Well of Tears Challenge Tomb are still accessible. For details about the different types of camps, see the Controls page.

**Map includes all major collectibles and challenge items in the second part of Shantytown. Note that there are more items available than you actually need to fulfill each challenge. Refer to the in-game map by pressing Tab/Back if you'd prefer no spoilers. The in-game map does not include a compass rose showing which way is north. So when I refer to map directions in my walkthrough, assume North is up, east right, south down, and west left.

HIGHWAY TO HELL (continued)

BEYOND THE GATE: When you move through into the next area of the settlement, you receive 100 XP and a new goal. On the right, at the top of the slope is the Ancient Gate Day Camp, where you can rest and regroup.

OBJECTIVE: Infiltrate the Palace

As you head down the hill into the new area, Lara spots one of her friends sliding down a zip line pursued by enemies.

There's a GPS cache flashing away in the corner of the fenced-in area on the left, but you can't reach it yet. For now, drop down onto the wooden ledge below that fence and follow it around to the left. Use the shotgun to destroy the planks nailed across the doorway and enter to find a document (4/5), "Belief," an excerpt from the Diaries of a Madman, plus some shotgun shells. (screenshots)

NOTE: If you fast travel back to Shantytown later, any time after reaching the Shipwreck Beach level, there will be a gap in the fence here that will enable you to quickly move from the slope near the Ancient Gate camp into the building on the left. (screenshot)

Exit the room and vault over the railing into the muddy area below. Crack open the salvage crate. Then shoot a fire arrow into the salvage net hanging in the corner above and to the left of the red helicopter. Break open the crate that drops out. Turn and look across to the opposite side of the oily pool. There's an effigy (6/5) mounted on the west wall. (screenshots)

NOTE: You only need to destroy 5 of these effigies to complete the Laid to Rest Challenge. If you missed any in the first part of Shantytown, there are several more in this area to help make up the difference. Shoot a fire arrow at the effigy to burn away the cloth. Then pull the post down with a rope arrow.

Wade through the nasty water and climb out on the steps below the helicopter. There are arrows and 2 boxes of shotgun shells in the hallway ahead. Grab them if you need them. Then go up the wooden steps and make a U-turn to the left. There's another salvage crate inside the junked helicopter. (screenshot)

Once you have the salvage, turn around and continue forward to a wooden bridge above a fast moving stream. Pick up more arrows on the left. Then step out onto the bridge. Watch as Grim handily dispatches a few bad guys. If you like, you can shoot the 2 Solarii as they follow Grim up the ladder. Then, while he natters on at you about climbing the ladder, move to the end of the bridge, drop down off the right side and pick up a GPS cache (6/15) hidden in a pile of old bottles. Move under the bridge to the left side and climb back up. (screenshot)

Now head for the ladder below where Grim is standing. Before Lara can climb up, a cut scene kicks in. A squad of Solarii notice her and start throwing dynamite. She quickly scrambles behind some metal crates. There are several low barriers here that you can use for cover, but try not to use the plain wooden crate or the wood-and-cloth barrier, since they can be destroyed by enemy dynamite, or the red barrels—for obvious reasons.

COMBAT IN THE COURTYARD: You should be fairly well fixed for ammo at this point, but if you need to resupply during this fight, there are 7 bundles of arrows leaning against the various crates and the back fence, plus 2 boxes of shotgun shells and some rifle/SMG ammo.

I personally like to take out the guy manning the siren on the upper level each time he respawns. If nothing else, it makes it easier to concentrate without the extra noise. (screenshot)

If you don't kill any of the other men in the first group, they continue to rain dynamite down on Lara but will not cross the stream to your side. This is a good opportunity to go after the Boom Goes the Dynamite Achievement/Trophy. The goal is to shoot a bundle of dynamite out of the air. This involves a bit of trial and error, and you can use any weapon but I had good results with the shotgun. Notice how each bundle of dynamite leaves an arcing smoke trail as it falls. Try to anticipate its path based on the arc and shoot it as it falls. (screenshot) Don't worry if Lara gets killed; the game will reload at the start of the battle and you can keep trying. Once you've unlocked the achievement/trophy, do not kill the remaining enemies. This triggers a checkpoint. Instead, reload and start the fight over with all your original ammo.

This time, shoot the men on the other side of the gap as quickly as you can. The SMG and fire arrows are better at long range. With good timing, you can shoot demolitions men just before they throw their dynamite, causing them to drop it and blow themselves up. Now that you're not trying to shoot incoming dynamite, when you see some headed toward you, scramble away and take cover behind a different set of metal crates. Also notice how the enemies use cover. The sheet metal barriers are solid, but you can destroy the wooden barrels and the wood-and-cloth barriers, giving the bad guys fewer places to hide. (screenshots)

When you've killed several men on the enemy side, a brief cut scene interrupts showing one of them shouting orders to the others to get down there and deal with you. This is also a checkpoint. A second wave of enemies now appears. Some of them begin to slide down the zip lines toward you. Again, if you're into Trophies and Achievements, you can try to shoot some of them off the lines as they descend. You'll need to do this 10 times during the course of the game to unlock the Deadeye Achievement/Trophy. The timing for this is also a little tricky. Try aiming a little bit ahead of the sliding enemy, then fire. You can also attempt to pull a few enemies off the ledges with rope arrows for the Get Over Here Achievement/Trophy. Aim your bow at an enemy not behind cover and shoot a rope arrow. Lara will pull automatically, and if all goes well, the enemy will tumble off the ledge. You need to do this 5 times for the award. (screenshots)

If any of the bad guys manage to flank Lara, use the shotgun or one of your special skills like Dodge Counter or Axe Strike to take care of them. And, of course, continue to move from cover to cover as the dynamite rains down.

When you've killed nearly everyone, a few stragglers run off talking about going for reinforcements. Don't worry, though, when Lara stands and puts her weapon away, you're safe for the time being.

Grim yells down for Lara to join him. Unfortunately the ladder was destroyed during the fight. So you'll have to find another way to reach him. He mentions a setup for hauling cargo, and the camera shifts to show a cages full of junk moving along a cable between two high platforms. You receive 400 XP here and a new goal.

LIBERATOR

OBJECTIVE: Find Your Way to Grim

SOUTHWEST SIDE: If you haven't completed the Laid to Rest Challenge, look up to where Grim was standing and you'll see another effigy (7/5) hanging on the left side of the tower. Shoot it with fire and pull it down with a rope arrow. (screenshot)

Loot the enemies' bodies, pick up any ammo you missed earlier, and then use the zip line to cross over to the other side of the stream. Loot the bodies here and explore around both sides of the tower to find a salvage crate (right) and food cache (left). Climb to the top and use your axe to destroy another alarm (2/4) for the Silencer Challenge. (screenshot)

From the this platform, look downstream to the west. To get into that area, either blow out the barrier down below with your shotgun or jump over to the roof of the next small building and drop down on the other side. Pick up rifle/SMG ammo and arrows. (screenshot)

Now go down the wooden steps. Ahead on the left is a plank bridge spanning the rushing stream. Move halfway across this bridge and drop down on the right to find a GPS cache (7/15). Return to the bank where you started and go into the large shack ahead. Inside is a relic (5/7), a Commander's Inro. (screenshot)

NOTE: There are several tasty chickens running around here in the Xbox 360 game. I'm not sure about the PS3 version, but I didn't see them in the PC game.

Climb the wooden ladder near the relic (or the stairs or the painted "scrambling" wall outside the relic room) to reach the second level of this structure. Pry open the salvage trunk. Then step outside and look to the northwest to spot another effigy (8/5) hanging on the cliff above. Burn it and pull it down. High above on the right side of the tower made of steel girders is a salvage net. Shoot it with a fire arrow as well. Crack open the salvage crate where it lands. Then shoot out the nearby plank barrier to find another GPS cache (8/15) in the little alcove behind it. (screenshots)

Exit the alcove and go around to the right. Climb the wooden wall inside the metal tower to reach the next level. Pick up the rifle/SMG ammo and open the food cache. Then move out onto the ledge overlooking the stagnant pool where you entered this part of Shantytown. Follow the ledge to the left and scramble up the painted wall to the next level. (screenshots)

FIGHTING NEAR THE WINDMILL: A small group of Solarii in the building with the windmill and cargo-hauling machinery spot Lara and start hollering. Move up the steps on the left and around to some metal crates you can use for cover as you fight. If you aim for the fuel barrel across the way, you can take out one or two enemies right away. One man carrying a shotgun drops down and comes around toward you from the left. Pepper him with fire arrows as he approaches or use your own shotgun to deal with him. Then finish off any stragglers still lurking over on the other building. (screenshots)

Before crossing over to where those enemies fell, make a few pickups on this side. There are arrows and shotgun shells leaning against the metal crates just ahead. To the right of the crates where you just hid is a wooden ladder leading to the level above. Climb up and use your axe to destroy another alarm (3/4) for the Silencer challenge. Climb onto the ledge to the left of the alarm to find 2 bundles of arrows. Then hop back down and continue in the opposite direction (south) along the plywood platform. Jump the gap near the hanging wooden crate, continue forward, and collect a box of shotgun shells on the right side of the yellow metal machinery. (screenshots)

Turn around and go back the way you came. Ignore the horizontal pole and just hop down across the gap to the level below. Continue forward to the area with the metal crates where you hid during the last combat. Just to the right of the catwalk leading over to where the last group of enemies were, there's a hole in the chain-link fence. Step through this hole and drop onto the ledge below to find a food cache. Then climb back up the way you came. (screenshots)

Now cross over the catwalk to the west, looting the bodies as you go. Before scrambling up the wooden wall, go around to the left to find a boarded-up doorway. Use your shotgun to blast through. Inside is a relic (6/7) a Scribe's Inro and some rifle/SMG ammo. Return to the wooden scrambling wall and go around to the left for another GPS cache (9/15). (screenshots)

Go back around to the wooden wall and scramble onto the ledge above. Immediately take cover behind the metal crate, since 3 more Solarii are waiting just ahead. First take out the one throwing dynamite and the one with the machine gun above on the right. Again, if you can manage to hit the demo man just as he's about to throw, he'll fumble his dynamite and blow himself up—and possibly the man next to him as well. The moving windmill blades make it difficult to get a clear shot, but likewise they keep the enemies from targeting Lara at times. Just do your best. (screenshots)

When you've dealt with these guys, loot the bodies near you, grab the arrows leaning on the left, and then jump across the gap near the windmill blades and immediately take cover behind the metal crates. Four more enemies are lurking ahead. The 2 with rifles tend to hang back and shoot from cover, but the 2 with shotguns come in from ahead on the left and charge Lara's position. Use heavy firepower to take them out before they reach you. (screenshots)

EXPLORING THE BUILDING WITH THE WINDMILL AND CARGO-HAULING MACHINERY: After the fight, there are plenty of bodies to loot. Grab what you can. Then make your way though this building picking up other items the Solarii have left lying around. There are several levels and many different passages, staircases and climbable surfaces for getting around. I'll describe one possible path.

Starting on the MIDDLE LEVEL, where you fought the last group of enemies, go to the north side, where the suspended cages turn and head back the other way. Grab the rifle/SMG ammo and then scramble up the painted wall onto the ledge above. Here you'll find another alarm (4/4) to destroy for the Silencer challenge. If you've found the others, you'll receive a 150 XP bonus here. (screenshots)

Climb the wooden ladder to the ROOF. Search the pile of debris on the left near the central support to find a GPS cache (10/15). Then go around to the southwest corner and drop down onto a small ledge to loot the body of the sniper who was shooting at you earlier. Climb back up the way you came and pick up shotgun shells, arrows and rifle/SMG ammo leaning against the center support. (screenshots)

Move out onto the jutting wooden ledge to the east. From here you can spot 2 more effigies (9 and 10/5). One is below on the right, just above the campsite. The other is high up on the left. Again, you only need to burn and dismantle 5 of these to complete the challenge, but there are lots of extras in case you miss a few. Of course you can also destroy them out of spite. ;) Now head for the southeast corner of the roof, where there's a makeshift ladder made of white painted boards. Use it to climb down to the middle level, where you fought the last group of Solarii. (screenshots)

Go through the doorway to the right of the scrambling wall in the northeast corner. Crack open the food cache. Then head down the broken stairs to the GROUND LEVEL. Jump the gap and continue forward to the edge of the landing. Go around to the left to find a salvage net. Burn it to get the salvage inside. Then return to the landing at the bottom of the stairs. Go down the next short flight of steps and turn around to face them. In the space beneath the landing, you'll find the last relic (7/7), a Jade Drinking Vessel from the Animal Statuary set, on the left, and a document (5/5), "Obsession," another entry from the Diaries of a Madman, on the right. Just beyond the table with the document, around the corner to the left, there's another bundle of arrows. (screenshots)

Turn so the alcove with the arrows is behind Lara and move out into the open area at the foot of the wooden stairs. Ahead on the right is a mound of trash with a few corpses mixed in. On the ground near it is another GPS cache (11/15). (screenshots)

After retrieving the cache, turn around and you'll see a plank barrier you can destroy with your shotgun. In the fenced-in area beyond, there's another GPS cache (12/15), shotgun shells and an edible plant. Get all three and exit the way you came. (screenshots)

NOTE: There are chickens and boars on the ground level of the windmill building in the Xbox 360 game. I'm not sure about the PS3 version, but I didn't see them in the PC game.

Turn left and step out onto the wooden ledge overlooking a fenced-in area. There's an alarm (5/4) on the ledge that you can wreck for the Silencer challenge. You only need 4 of them for the bonus XP, but this one will be handy if you missed any of the others. Down below, in the far right corner is the GPS cache (13/15) you may have seen earlier from the other side of the fence. Drop down and pick it up. Then shoot out the plank barrier, enter, turn right, shoot out another barrier and pilfer the food cache at the end of the passageway. Return to the enclosure where you found the last GPS cache and scramble up the painted wall on the right to return to the GROUND LEVEL of the windmill building. (screenshots)

Go forward between the heap of junk where you found the 11th GPS cache and the wooden stairs. Continue forward (northeast) through the rough opening in the stone wall. Scramble up the painted wall onto a ledge made of packed earth. Turn around and walk across the wooden beam to find a GPS cache (14/15) lying on the ground to the right. (screenshots)

NOTE: You can also reach this GPS cache from the other side. This tunnel opens into the area where the cargo cages change direction.

Return across the narrow beam, crack open the 2 salvage crates and continue up the rough earthen ledge overlooking THREE HUGE SMELTING POTS. There's a food cache about halfway along on the left, plus arrows and a salvage trunk at the top.

Hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the open area near the smelting pots is a cage with several round holes in it. Inside this cage are 5 salvage nets. Move around the cage until you're able to get a clear shot with a fire arrow at each of the nets. When you've burned all of the nets, drop down and crack open the 5 crates for a whopping 150 salvage points. (If you need help with this, check out the screenshots.)

Exit to the south, past the 3 smelting pots, and cross the stream to the Windmill Base Camp and the entrance to the second Challenge Tomb. These will probably already be marked on your map, since you came close to them while exploring above. Go around to the right side of the picturesque tree with the dangling corpses to find a salvage crate. Then, if you like, you can rest at the camp and spend any skill and salvage points you've collected. (screenshots)

CHALLENGE TOMB ENTRANCE: Enter the tunnel near the campsite. A little way in, the passage widens into a cave with planks and a few body parts scattered on the ground. On the left, hidden amid some scrubby plants, is the last GPS cache (15/15). Use Survival Instinct if you're having trouble spotting it. (screenshots)

Continue along the tunnel. Just beyond the spot where Lara automatically lights her torch, you pass through an area with water dripping from the ceiling. Soon afterward, you step onto a muddy slope and slide down. There's no way to avoid this, so just go with it. Lara automatically grabs the edge, but you need to press Interact to keep her from losing her grip. Then traverse to the right until Lara is hanging on a wooden beam. Continue climbing to the right and upward, around a corner onto a set of beams with skulls tucked into the crevices, then finally up onto a solid ledge. From here, vault up onto the low wooden ledge ahead and crack open the salvage crate there. (screenshots)

Ignore the path leading off to the left. You'll use it on the way back. For now, head to the right along the ledge with a low, wooden fence on its outer edge. Use the narrow beam laid across the chasm to cross. Then continue following the tunnel, which has no more forks or branches. At the end, squeeze through a Lara-sized gap in the rocks into a large cavern. Then move up the slope to the Chamber of Judgment Day Camp. (screenshots)

CHAMBER OF JUDGMENT CHALLENGE TOMB: You're headed for the ledge above the statue with raised arms. You can probably deduce how to get there based on the movable objects and climbable surfaces.

The key item is the sheet of reinforced metal to the right of the campsite. This functions like a seesaw. Notice how one end of the seesaw is closer to the climbing wall. You need to raise this end so Lara can jump from it to the wall. The trick is getting that end to stay up as she runs over it. Start by picking up the yellow can near the camp site. Carry it onto the seesaw. Move to the end closer to the campsite. Ignore the on-screen prompt to throw the can Then press Dodge/Roll (Shift/Circle/B) to drop the yellow can at that end. This will help to hold the seesaw down, but it's not quite enough. (screenshots)

There's a second can sitting on a shelf to the left of the statue with the raised arms. Take a running jump from the pile of metal debris to grab the shelf. It will then break under Lara's weight enabling you to get the can. Either throw it onto the lowered end of the seesaw or carry it over there and drop it near the first can. (screenshots)

A third can sits on a higher shelf to the right of the statue. Ignore it for now. Instead, focus on the fourth can, on a shelf on the right side of the room when facing the climbing wall. Shoot a rope arrow into the rope-wrapped aircraft wheel hanging from the ceiling. It then swings into the shelf, smashing it and dumping the can on the ground. Carry it onto the lower end of the seesaw and drop it there with the other two. (screenshots)

Now run up the seesaw and jump at the end. With a good run-up and a well-timed jump, Lara should be able to reach the climbing wall. Press Interact to sink your axe into the wall.

NOTE: If you're having trouble making the jump with just the 3 cans holding down the seesaw, it is possible to get the remaining can. Just throw 2 of the other cans up onto the shelf where it is sitting. Their weight will break the shelf, bringing down the can. Drop it on the end of the seesaw with the others and you should be good to go. (screenshots)

Once you're latched onto the climbing wall, climb up, then as far to the left as possible. Jump from there to the ladder, pressing Interact to prevent Lara from slipping. Climb up onto the ledge and go forward to find the treasure chest. Open it for 1250 XP, 250 salvage, a HANDGUN PART (2/3) and the Shantytown GPS Cache Map. If you've been following this walkthrough, you won't need the map, but it does help with 100% completion. (screenshots)

Return to the opening above the climbing wall. Jump across the suspended wooden platforms and into the big pipe, which deposits you next to the Chamber of Judgment Day Camp.

Follow the tunnel back the way you came. Shortly after crossing the narrow plank above the chasm, you'll return to the wooden ledge where you opened the salvage crate earlier. This time go through the opening on the right, toward the lantern in the distance. (The left path leads to the slippery slope, which you can't climb.) At the top of the wooden stairs, step out onto another narrow beam. It doesn't extend all the way across the gap, so you're going to have to take a leap of faith. Just jump straight ahead and Lara will land safely in the tunnel below. Continue to the opening near the Windmill Base Camp. (screenshots)

RIDING THE CARGO CARRIER: When you're ready to go after Grim, head west from the campsite and go around the green part of the windmill/cargo-hauling building to find a painted wall you can use to scramble up onto the middle level. Jump up and grab onto one of the moving cargo cages as it passes by and climb on top. You can use the low wooden ramp for a boost, or climb up on one of the ledges and jump on top of one of the cages, but this isn't necessary. Ride the cage over to the other side of town. (screenshots)

BATTLE ON THE TOWERS: On the way over, Lara calls out to Grim. He comes running out from behind some machinery shouting a warning. It's impossible to avoid the ambush, but if you like, you can try and take out a few bad guys before the cage stops moving. The first few enemies appear on the upper level of the tower with the tattered umbrella. You can try and hit them or the fuel barrel nearby. Once the cage stops moving, jump onto the wooden platform ahead and take out any remaining men on the next tower. The rest of the bad guys stay in hiding for now. (screenshots)

Hang from the edge, let go and drop to the deck. Then immediately take cover as more enemies emerge. If you need ammo during the upcoming fight, there are 5 bundles of arrows, 2 boxes of shotgun shells and 4 boxes of rifle/SMG ammo scattered around this area. As far as tactics go, it's basically the same scenario as the last big fight. The Solarii on the other tower shoot at you with rifles and throw explosives. Shoot back with your long-range weapons, the bow and rifle, and release aim to make better use of cover when the hail of bullets gets too intense. Change position and take cover when you see incoming dynamite or Molotov cocktails. Try and shoot the demolitions men as they're about to throw, making them fumble their dynamite and blow themselves up. Also, aim for the fuel barrels to blow up any nearby enemies. Keep in mind that the enemies can do this too, so don't linger near the hazards on your side. If you want to move up to the metal crates at the front edge of the platform, destroy the fuel barrels there first. (screenshots)

Some of the enemies will slide down the zip lines onto the platform where you are. You can try and shoot them off the lines for the Deadeye Achievement/Trophy. This is also a good opportunity to work on Boom Goes the Dynamite and Get Over Here if you haven't unlocked them already. (Details are on the Achievement and Trophy pages, as well as in the section about the last big fight.) If they manage to invade Lara's personal space, blast them with the shotgun or use one of your Brawler skills to disable and finish them. (The page with screenshots has details.)

When you've killed most of the enemies, a cut scene kicks in. One of Mathias's men holds Grim at knife point and orders Lara to drop her weapons. She's ready to cooperate, but the old guy is having none of it. Grim headbutts the dude with the machete and takes another guy with him over the edge. The remaining enemies disappear, and you receive 400 XP and a new goal.

NO ONE LEFT BEHIND

OBJECTIVE: Find a Way Into the Solarii Stronghold

Loot the bodies and pick up all the extra ammo you can carry. Then climb onto the metal crate at the front edge of the platform. Grab the zip line and climb across to the other tower. Search the fallen enemies here. The climb to the upper level using the yellow ladder or the wooden wall around back. (screenshots)

Off to the southwest is a climbable surface on the cliff side. Use the zip line already in place to climb toward it. When Lara gets about halfway across, the bad guys notice her and cut the line. Keep climbing while Dumb shoots flaming arrows at you and Dumber hacks away at the rope. Before you can make it across, the line snaps free. Lara falls but manages to hang onto the rope. Just like in the Mountain Village sequence, you need to press Interact when she reaches the cliff to latch on with the climbing axe. The men continue shooting at her, but before they can do any damage, they suddenly drop dead. (screenshots)

Yes! Roth has apparently made his way up to the neighboring tower and is covering Lara with the rifle he found. Climb to the ledge above the rough wall and pull up.

In a brief conversation by walkie-talkie, they vow make sure Grim's death was not in vain. The plan now is for Roth to cover Lara as she makes her way across the huge bridge to the palace. You receive another 100 XP for getting this far.

CLIMBING TO THE PALACE BRIDGE: After the dialogue with Roth, run up the short flight of wooden steps, jump the gap and scramble up the wooden wall onto the ledge above. As you climb, Lara hears Roth make contact with an incoming helicopter by radio. The pilot identifies his aircraft as "inbound from freighter Trinity," an affiliation that will take on greater significance later. Her energy renewed by the possibility of rescue, Lara tells Roth to send up a signal while she makes her way into the palace to rescue Sam and the others. (screenshots)

Enter the building ahead to find the Vista Tower Day Camp. When you're ready to move on, exit through the doorway to the north and move out across the small, wooden bridge. Keep to the left, since the right side of the bridge is broken. When you reach the wide gap, take a running jump to grab the white beam on the other side. Pull up and continue forward to the tall building ahead. (screenshots)

Roth tells Lara he'll cover her as she makes her way across the underside of the large bridge. I don't know about you, but I trust him. Something about that manly voice and crinkly eyes. Swoon! ;) Scramble up the painted wall into the building. Inside, climb the ledges, move around to the left, then go up the wooden steps and out into the area beneath the big bridge.

CROSSING UNDER THE BRIDGE: Take a running jump across the first wide gap to grab the ledge beyond. Pull up and take another running jump up the little wooden ramp to grab the white planks ladder on the other side of the gap. As the lowest ladder rung breaks away, press Interact to hang on. Climb the planks up, then to the right, then upward again. (screenshots)

Lara automatically crouches in the low space above. Make your way forward until one of the men on the bridge above spots Lara and Roth takes him out with a rifle shot. As the enemy's body pitches forward, it crashes through the decking where Lara is standing. Press Interact to grab a last-minute handhold. Traverse to the right along the painted beam that protrudes from the side of the bridge. Pull up. Then jump forward to grab the next beam. Pull up once more. Turn left and jump to grab the white plank mounted on the side of the bridge. Traverse to the right until Roth tells you to stop. (screenshots)

Throughout this next brief section, you need to follow Roth's verbal instructions otherwise the enemies on the bridge will discover Lara and kill her. (Turn on subtitles in under Options > Gameplay > Subtitles if necessary.) Wait until Roth says go and then jump across the gap and grab onto the next plank to the right. Continue traversing to the right, but each time Roth tells you to stop, wait where you are until he gives the signal to keep moving. When he says, "Lara, I think you're clear," traverse to the right and pull up onto the bridge. (screenshots)

Don't get too relaxed though. A sneaky Solarii appears out of nowhere and grabs Lara. Roth takes care of him, but in the process, Lara and the enemy tumble over the edge. Press Interact when prompted to grab onto a piece of grating jutting out from the side of the bridge. Climb up into the area under the bridge once more, but get ready to run. The men above spot Lara and start shooting down at her. Turn right, run out into the sunlight and jump down onto the metal roof ahead. The bad guys blow up the ladder you would have used to reach the palace entrance. So turn right and immediately start running and sliding across the roofs of the rickety shacks built on the cliff side. (screenshots)

The path forward is pretty obvious. The trick is timing. Keep running whenever possible and try to jump near the edge of each building in order to get maximum air time and reach the next roof. Beyond the metal roofs are 2 wooden ledges. These also collapse beneath you, so keep running across the first one, jump onto the next and when it tilts forward, slide to the end and jump onto the roof of the shack ahead. Run across the top of it and jump at the edge, veering to the left a little to aim toward the climbing wall. As soon as Lara is close enough to the wall, press Interact to latch on. Climb to the top and safety. Whew! And all for a measly 100 XP! (screenshots)

When you move toward the cave opening, Lara touches base with Roth by radio, telling him she's going in. Continue forward through a partially flooded section of the tunnel into the next area.

5/2/13 - Added suggestion and screenshot for "Get Over Here" achievement/trophy. Thanks to Jeff Reid for reminding me about this one.
5/18/13 - Updated level map to include the areas covered in the third visit. The walkthrough for this area is included at the end of Summit Forest.
7/7/13 - Updated weapon parts info with help from Jerad Z.
8/19/13 - Fixed an incorrect notation on the level map. Silecer alarm 5 was mistakenly labeled 'S6.' Thanks to Mike for the heads-up.
9/8/13 - Added note about shortcut from Ancient Gate camp into the windmill building near the start of Shantytown Part 2, thanks to a tip from Jeff Reid. Note that the gap in the fence is only present here in Shantytown after you've progressed as far as the Shipwreck Beach level.
